I love creating art because it makes me feel like time has stopped, and when I’m done I’ve made something beautiful that others can love too

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love painting on things nature makes for me. Like rocks, shells and wood. I really enjoy painting animals and nature. I’ve made many different arts over the years, from ceramics to found object sculpture to paintings to illustration. I recently have loved making paintings on objects in a way that’s like combining painting and sculpture together. I also try other things here and there. Like wind-chimes or mosaics. If I get an idea for something I can make it happen.

Where do you find inspiration?

Inspiration comes from all over for me. Primarily I see things in daily life and think “this is beautiful, I would love to paint that” like to feel to capture the beauty fully. I feel connected to the things I paint, and painting feels like a celebration of the beauty. I also get inspiration when someone asks me if I can paint something and I like the challenge. Some of my best pieces have come from the challenge of painting something I might not have chosen to paint for myself.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would put it towards making a better studio for myself. I have a lot of back problems and I often get pain when I work on my art too much. It would be nice to have better more personalized art space. And maybe if possible I’d like to get my own place where I can have my own room dedicated to a studio. I’ve had a lot of mental health and life struggles and still live with my parents, it feels like I started life a little late. I’d like to use the money towards growing in the right direction.
