I create art to express the joy and beauty in the small simple things in our world

The movement of the ocean and its creatures are what inspire my art. My latest exhibitions have used a mix of mediums in order to reflect the Salish Sea. Building sea creatures from clay and texture fibers, and having the come to life(3-d form) on canvases or as standalone pieces has brought me joy over the years. There is a whimsy in my work that is inspired by the curiousity of a child playing on the beach
Where do you find inspiration?I find my inspiration from the Salish Sea and its surroundings. I grew up on an island and spent endless hours on the beach, collecting shells and collecting creatures from tide pools. The movement, colors and creatures offer so many avenues to explore as I create my pieces
What would you do with $25,000?With the 25,000 I would start a non profit to bring art to children in lower income areas and area where school budgets have reduced or eliminated art programs. I believe the it is necessary to nourish a child’s sense of imagination and creativity in order for them to realize their dreams. The money would help to fund supplies and a Working space to hold art workshops or to have a mobile space that could travel to schools and communities
