I create work that offers peace and makes people smile, with a mischievous edge. I don’t work from a distance—I create from direct experience. Whether kayaking, surfing, hiking, harvesting kelp at sea, or riding my horse, I’m immersed in the environments that shape my work. I paint from my own photographs and from my life, capturing patterns, mood, and humor through interactive public art. Painting and clay are inseparable, each shaping how I see and create.

I find inspiration in moments of connection, humor & presence, especially in nature. I create best when I’m happy, bringing my whole self into the work. Kayaking near Sanibel Island with my son, we searched for manatees as warm water rippled & grass bubbled beneath us. One glided just below, a small crab perched on its side, surfing. The crab lifted its claw in a perfect “hang ten”. Pure, unexpected joy. That’s what I carry into my work~capturing moments that feel alive, playful, & deeply human.

CREATE. I would go BIG—and I would follow through. I don’t wait for permission—I’m already creating. This would expand my work into larger-scale ceramic and mural installations people can experience and remember. I’d invest directly in materials, fabrication, and time—bringing ideas fully into the world. I don’t stop creating. This lets me share it bigger.
