It was my escape when I was in prison. It allowed for me to imagine a world beyond the bars, walls, and fences that had me confined.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love to create abstract impressionism because it gives me room to express what cannot always be explained directly. I am drawn to movement, texture, color, and emotion. This style lets me turn feeling, memory, and experience into something visual without needing it to be perfect or literal. It allows the work to speak in its own language.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the world around me and the things I have witnessed in my life. I pay attention to people, movement, color, struggle, silence, and the way everyday moments carry meaning. My work is shaped by lived experience, observation, and the need to turn what I see and feel into something honest, creative, and useful.
What would you do with $25,000?If I won the $25,000, I would use it to finally bring Artistic Confidence to life: a not-for-profit youth arts outlet born from my own story of survival, struggle, and transformation. Art helped me find language for pain, power, and freedom. I want to give young people that same doorway, a place to create, heal, be seen, and believe their lives are worth shaping.
