I create art to bleed things out without making a mess. It’s the only place my thoughts make sense and my silence speaks.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I create visual emotionalism - dark, expressive pieces that blur the line between portraiture and abstraction. My focus is on translating emotion into something visible, using shadow, contrast, and texture to let the work speak where words fall short.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the unseen, the space between breath and canvas. I connect with André Desjardins’ idea of being a seeker of souls, finding faces and emotions that feel like they already exist. When I create, it feels like discovery. I build stories around my subjects to understand their silence and weight, aiming to make art that feels deeply personal - like it was meant for one person.
What would you do with $25,000?I would invest half into long-term accounts to build stability. The rest would go toward licensing and securing a space for a tattoo studio. I’m drawn to tattooing because it’s the most personal form of art, people choose to endure pain for something meaningful, and I want to be part of that transformation. I currently work as a diesel mechanic, but I’m committed to building toward creating full-time, step by step.
