Anthony Ritz

Simply speaking, I’ve just always loved drawing. Since I was a kid it’s always been a way for me to relax and express myself.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love figure drawing. The human form is such a unique and complex thing, so I really love experimenting and practicing different ways to portray that. Whether it be creating original characters or drawing portraits, I find great joy in bringing things to life on paper or digitally. I also really enjoy drawing and inking comic books. One of my goals is to create and publish my own graphic novel. Drawing with pencil & ink is my favorite way to create, though in recent years I’ve embraced digital.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration from life in general, my lived experiences and my daily observations serve as my blueprint. Movies, television and comics have also always been ways for me to find inspiration. Most importantly, the support and love I’ve always received from my family and friends has served as the beacon for my creativity . Like a lot of artists I’ve had my fair share of discouragement but I’ve found that staying consistent and keeping faith will always lead to good things & positive outcomes.

What would you do with $25,000?

At the risk of sounding pretentious or cliche, I would want to give a large percentage to a noble cause to help those less fortunate, especially elderly, abused and abandoned animals. I come from a working middle class family and we’ve always been extremely blessed, so I would want to pay it forward as much as I could. Also, it has been a lifelong dream of mine to travel to Japan to embrace their culture which has always fascinated me. I highly respect their honor, customs & noble way of life.
