I’m a self taught artist, my ability to paint came as a complete surprise. I’m always exploring different media, currently blacksmithing.

For many years I enjoyed painting everything from street scenes to portraits. Detailed watercolors were my favorites although I learned to love loose oil painting. My current passion is forging sculptures in steel, and creating creatures and abstract art with fire, hammer and anvil. 4 years ago I was awarded my Journeyman certificate in blacksmithing by Florida Artist Blacksmiths Association. My biggest joy is leading a team of expert blacksmiths in puplic demonstrations of steel sculpture.
Where do you find inspiration?Life and its highs and lows inspire me. I have been inspired by sitting in the garden with friends. I have been inspired by the sun’s rays hitting the skin of a reef shark while swimming with them in the Bahamas. I have been inspired by the anxiousness of my children coping with growing up. I have been inspired by my illness and depression . I have been inspired by losing Mum to Alzheimers and the sudden death of my Dad. I continue to be inspired by the love of my family.
What would you do with $25,000?I would love to create large public art so that my work doesn’t disappear into private collections where I dont see it again, or into storage boxes because I can’t part with it. I would use the money for some larger tools that can help me make more monumental pieces.
