To have a place where everything is welcome and useful — the good, the bad, the ugly, and the beautiful. To play with light and dark.

Film is the most challenging as it brings together all other art forms. I also have to carry the story with me for a long time as I’m writing which leads to a greater understanding of the current of life and how things fold and unfold. I feel the strength of the web best when I’m writing because I am so fragile and fearful at the start of that journey — in need of reassurance, like a child. However, I feel best fed when shooting, acting, painting or playing music — less of an observer.
Where do you find inspiration?Within, without, up, down and around! Protecting the silence to sit with what’s found and create something that does it justice is probably more difficult. Nature is a great friend and healer. Children who demand your presence in play. Poetry. Music. Dreams. Love. Pain. The rise and the fall. Arrivals and departures. What could have been. What I believe shouldn’t be or shouldn’t have been but maybe it’s too soon to tell. Questions have always been greater sources of inspiration than answers.
What would you do with $25,000?I would put it toward the production of a mystical anti-war featurette with environmental undertones that I’ve written and would like to direct. As a former video journalist and trained actor/writer, it will be my first piece with proper funding. I hope to use it as a springboard for my feature scripts. It’s a character driven piece set largely in the forest. I imagine most of my cost will go toward the actors.
