While I am most drawn to photography and videography, I do not limit myself to one medium and believe in experimentation. My practice includes drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic design, photography, videography, music, and dance. I have an eye for capturing moments and seeing beyond. The body of work I am sharing is from “Of Paterson,” a personal project created over five years from 2015 to 2020 in Paterson, New Jersey, using 35mm film and a point-and-shoot camera.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in life and in other art, whether visual or performance-based. I see art everywhere and feel things deeply. This sensitivity shapes how I view the world, including my hometown of Paterson, a city with historical significance in the United States. Although Paterson carries a complex reputation, I aim to express that even in difficult or overlooked places, beauty and meaningful work can emerge.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the funds to invest in my creative practice and continue producing work with a high level of care and intention. I would also explore developing a photobook to share a selection of my work in a more lasting and accessible form.
