I have been enjoying working with tie dying fabric to create stage tapestries designed for people to dance under. The art enhances the music as it feels alive, creating an immersive, sensory experience. I also love igniting interactive improv theatrical environments that are welcoming as my work explores what people bring to the table when given permission to tap into their imagination in a non judgmental space to encourage participation, play and expression.
Where do you find inspiration?Life is an interesting ride. I actively pursue inspiration in every twist and turn of my journey through the interpersonal connections I have made along the way. Love is the emotion that keeps me going strong and imagination is the fountain of youth. As a teacher, I feel this everyday as I am inspired by the raw curiosity of my students. We are all majik and every human is a participant, if we can all believe, we can open the world to endless possibilities.
What would you do with $25,000?Through my energy and art, if I am selected to represent "The People's Artist," I would expand the GoodTrouble TieDyes brand. I would amplify the reach to include fun, immersive experiences that would turn physical spaces into a mixed reality playground, joining tie-dye and live music as art mediums. Through these experiences I would continue to seek other talents to build something that inspires a happening that would unite people together, creating a platform for the poets and the dreamers.
