Art shares how I see the world with an impairment, challenging assumptions and empowering me to reclaim the narrative and be represented.

Art, to me, is more than something to look at—it’s something to think about. I don’t have one specific label for my favorite type of art, all I know I’m drawn to work that reflects the world we live in, things in our daily lives that we may not always stop to notice or question. I enjoy art that challenges people. The kind that makes someone pause and rethink what they thought. Even though I may not have a single category to define my taste, I know that my passion lies in expressing the world.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from the issues going on in the world. When I see something that I feel people don’t fully understand, it pushes me to represent it in my art. I’m drawn to topics that are overlooked, or uncomfortable. I think those are the ones that need to be seen the most. I also pay attention to how society responds—what we accept, whats ignored, and how we treat each other. That helps shape what I create, because I’m not just trying to show the issue itself but our connection to it.
What would you do with $25,000?If I were awarded $25,000, I would use it to support my growth as an artist and to give back to others. I would spend part of it on art supplies and materials so I can explore new techniques and expand my creativity. I would also use some of the money to provide meals for people in my community who are struggling, because even small acts of support can make a difference. Overall, I would use the opportunity to grow personally while also helping others in a meaningful way.
