I create art because it lets me take my strong emotions and turn them into a memory, and good or bad, people resonate, feel, and heal.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art is canvas, acrylic paintings, and sculpting. I love the way they come together; it makes the art all the more tangible. Art, however, is truly in everything I do, ballet, which is one of the highest art forms I've been dancing for over 20 years, and I adore it. I find art in music, cinema, and outdoors. I am inspired anywhere I go.
Where do you find inspiration? The first artist I was ever introduced to was Keith Haring in kindergarten art class. The teacher figured his art was easy enough to learn to color in the lines, just like Mr. Haring, so I saw the color, and every inch of my paper was the rainbow. Cinema, old and new, inspires my creativity; our history, my precision and perspective; and our planet, my color. I am surrounded by glorious inspiration.
What would you do with $25,000?My muse, my teacher, my family—someone I love deeply—is currently going through chemotherapy. This opportunity could truly make a difference for them. They are the heart behind my art and my biggest inspiration. The rest would go toward supporting my PhD in psychology, a dream I’ve been working toward for years.
