Writing, for me, is a superpower. Each expression is an act of resistance, and with it I can transform suffering into beauty.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art is poetry, not by choice but by destiny: it was poetry that found me. I have written since I was five years old, when with imaginary notebooks and pencils I traced invisible lines to give shape to what had no voice yet. Poetry is wonder because it lights what seems lost, and alchemy because it turns pain into beauty. It is memory that rescues from oblivion, but above all it is justice: it gives a voice to those who have none.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in details—the small things that often escape others but capture my attention and captivate me. A glance, a silence, a fragile moment can become a spark. I draw inspiration from art, especially music, and from deep emotions: my own feelings and, through empathy, what others live. For me poetry is also a form of healing, transforming my pain into beauty and my fragility into strength.
What would you do with $25,000?I would found a cultural circle in my small inland town in Sicily and I would support my children’s university studies.
