My paintings are social documents of meaningful and sincere relationships I have made within my time. It’s how I show my gratitude/homage.

I enjoy putting portraiture and figures into surreal environments - playing with the contrast between objectivity and subjectivity. My portraits are grounded in stylized realism, while the surreal environments allow me to experiment with emotions and thought processes correlated to the subject. The use of semiotics and signs are both vital and joyous to me - as these personal elements allude to impactful, meaningful experiences I have made with my subjects.
Where do you find inspiration?Every day, I find inspiration within my interactions with those around me: other artists, peers, faculty/mentors, family, and friends from inside and outside of academia. From those interactions, I find influence and meaning within those "micro to macro" moments in time. From the quiet moments and personal conversations with an individual, to the euphoria that procures when engaging meaningfully with a collection of people. My relationships and my context with others are my biggest inspiration.
What would you do with $25,000?I would apply such funds in a way that "gives back" to community. As it is the presence and exchange with others that drive my efforts, I would use these earnings to continue fostering and showcasing relationship/community building. This would look like continuing my painting studies, which exhibits my acknowledgement and respect for others. Also, I would construct art events that invites people to come together - encouraging participants to create meaningful exchanges with one another.
