My favorite type of art to create is cultural and wearable art, especially inspired by the traditions of Día de los Muertos and La Catrina. I love creating everything by hand—from my dresses, headpieces, and face painting to every small detail—using different forms of art and craft to bring my inspiration, passion, and love to life. I especially love working with colors because they help me express the beauty, history, and spirit of my culture from Mexico and share it with my community.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my roots, culture, and life experiences. I was born in Mexico and raised in New York City in a strong Hispanic community. Through my art, I feel I am a voice for my people, especially immigrants, showing the beauty, strength, traditions, and deep roots we carry. I am inspired by the history, resilience, and pride of my Mexican heritage, and I honor that in every piece I create by hand.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, I would grow my art and cultural work by creating workshops for youth. Through my art, I want to teach my community the beauty of our traditions and help keep our culture alive, especially for the new generation who may be unfamiliar with their roots. I want to inspire young people to be proud of who they are, honor their heritage, and connect with their history while also reaching different communities through respect, unity, and cultural understanding.
