I create art because it connects me to a world full of disconnection. I have always craved socialization growing up in a time so against it.

My favorite medium is oil paints. Something about the softness and blending effect they give on the canvas is so beautiful to me. I also really enjoy drawing! I have always wanted to be an animator since I was a little kid, so I really enjoy sketchy pencil and pen and ink work. Last year I was in a class where we made our own ink out of flowers, berries, etc. This was an amazing experience that allowed me to expand my drawing techniques and ideas about what I can do with drawing!
Where do you find inspiration?Often from “what if” statements. To explain my process, I will first find an intriguing photo in my camera roll. I usually take pictures of interesting angles or collections of objects with the intention to draw them. From there, I’ll use this as my base composition and imagine what if something was different about the image. For example, if it’s an image of an old car, then what if the steering wheel was huge? So I mostly draw inspiration from the things around me and add a touch of my own mind
What would you do with $25,000?I will use the money to fund my master degree education at the University of East London. I will be continuing my volleyball career on the university team and the Malory Eagles, a semi-pro club team. My undergraduate senior thesis was about drawing as a social behavior, which I would like to continue later in my career!
