Habit, vanity and a deep commitment to making libidinal technologies
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My practice is mainly sculptural, I love working with technology and kinetics because I love problem solving. Having to troubleshoot works to make this kind of magical output has always been very satisfying for me.
Where do you find inspiration?Post modern theory, systems, cybernetics, sexual fetishes, I love extremes whether it be physical or mental. I have a deep curiosity about the genealogy of technology and trying to map technological progression onto a larger genealogy of desire.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the money to invest in my practice, the funds would allow me to take on larger scale dream projects that would hopefully culminate in some kind of solo exhibition. With these funds I would be able to pay collaborators and fabricators so as to create works that would otherwise be impossible for me to produce. I have recently opened an art gallery in Chicago and since its inception my time and money has gone into it primarily and my art practice has more or less taken a back seat.
