Betty Clark

I have drawn and painted since I was a child. It gives me a place to make sense of the outer world and to resolve conflicts in myself.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

A day long ago, while painting a landscape painting, a voice in my head said paint that background shape a solid color. I did, and continued “listening”. The transformed painting was abstract. My work till this day is abstraction. Certain repetitive marks have taken on meaning.

Where do you find inspiration?

In Nature, in foreign countries and cultures, personal interactions, and my inner life.

What would you do with $25,000?

I have family in Sweden. I paint while there. Due to Hurricane Helène I have not seen my family in several years. I will use some of the money to go to Sweden, be with my family, and paint. A portion will go to an environmental non profit.
