I love to make art because it makes me feel complete and allows me to share my feelings about the fundamental musicality of the universe.

Expressive abstraction is my favorite mode of painting because of its inexhaustible vitality. It is a space where I can express life’s paradoxes with brush, gesture, and paint, using the invisible currents of music and human emotion to arrive at meanings that are visually charged and open. My painting process is simply to allow the work’s internal logic to assert itself. Spontaneity and risk generate both voltage and structure. Through many leaps of faith, the hidden harmony emerges.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the courage, nobility, generosity, brilliance, and dedication of so many artists, great and small, past and present, and in all genres, whose accomplishments make the world a better place. Their actions say to me: find your voice and speak your piece. And so I do.
What would you do with $25,000?This would contribute greatly to the yearly expense of my studio, helping me to continue producing new paintings with gratitude and joy.
