American Sign Language is my first language and I create art that the Deaf and hearing communities can share and enjoy together.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love creating mixed media, holistically accessible art. This includes work that involves film, dance, music, American Sign Language and projected subtitles. If I can craft something that also includes 3D, tactile objects, that’s also very exciting to me.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in other artists, through music and through theater and film. There is an organization called the Art Students League in NYC where one can take classes and dive deeper into their artistry and I find a lot of inspiration there.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, I would be able to continue working on my ASL dance theater project, (WILD PARTY) which takes a classic poem and reimagines it as an ASL rock opera.
