Receive Text UpdatesMaps, entirely by hand. No digital tools, no AI. I start with a blank sheet of paper, do the research, put in the hours, and create something with real meaning. There's a permanence to it. Every map I make is tied to a place, and often to the memory behind that place for the person who commissioned it. That's what makes it worth doing.
Where do you find inspiration?Early on, 17th century cartography was my inspiration, the draftsmanship, the detail, the way cartographers understood that a map was never just geography. Over time, as I developed my own style, my focus shifted. Now I'm drawn to history itself: borders that no longer exist, events that reshaped regions, moments in time that deserve to be seen again. I make maps of the world as it was, or as it means something to the person who commissions it. The subject finds me more than I find it.
What would you do with $25,000?Invest it back into the work. Marketing to reach more people, fees to get my maps in front of audiences at shows, and supplies to keep creating. This is a real business built on a craft I take seriously and that money would go straight toward making it reach even further.
