I create art because I love the tactile nature of creating, it’s my favorite form of problem-solving and has helped me overcome grief.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art to create is realism, because each piece gives a story. I like to articulate emotions, expressions, and personality with each of my pieces. I love the challenges, and the “happy accidents” because it is what gives my piece’s authenticity. I look for life in each of my portraits so I can share / give back to families who have also lost loved one’s. I love working with graphite on large format-medias because it forces me to capture each and every detail which creates a story.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration is rooted in memory of my brother. Since losing my brother in 2022 my perspective on art shifted, it took a new meaning. He is the reason I strive for such high levels of detail and scale in my realism work. When it comes to my art work I feel a sense of purpose that is directly tied to his memory. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my brother, he shaped me into the person I am becoming. My work is as much about honoring him as it is about the art itself, he is my reason!
What would you do with $25,000?If I were to win 25,000 I would pursue my art career, and help the homeless. Here in my hometown there is a lot of homelessness, and I feel as if they’re not seen. I’d like to do what I can to help, either that’s with providing hygiene products, food, clothing, shelter, etc. or showing some type of love and care. We are all human, and we all bleed the same. There is hope, and i’d like to give back hope towards people who are struggling or homeless.
