What is your favorite type of art to create?

I am drawn to mixed media art, particularly combining paint and charcoal to create depth, contrast, and texture. I enjoy building my work in layers—using charcoal to establish strong shadows, movement, and structure, and then incorporating paint to add richness, color, and dimension. This approach allows me to create pieces that feel both expressive and grounded. I am especially interested in the physical and visual texture that comes from this combination. Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in life experiences—pain, hurt, happiness, love, and heartbreak. My work is deeply personal and reflects moments that have shaped me emotionally and physically.The pieces I submitted were created after my mastectomy. They explore the intensity of that time—the physical pain, the debilitating depression, and the mental fog that came from being on heavy medication. Through my art, I process those feelings and give form to experiences that are often dificult

What would you do with $25,000?

ÌIf I were given $25,000, I would use it to support my education and growth as an artist while working toward my goal of opening a community art studio. As an adult student pursuing my bachelor’s degree in visual arts, with plans to earn a master’s in art therapy, this funding would help me stay focused and committed to my path
