When I create, I feel whole. A communion of muse, man, and material that transmutes and transports internal chaos into seen meaning.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
The kind I haven't created yet - working through and simultaneously creating new processes that expand my methodological repertoire. Lately it's been an elaborate tech stack: lidar scans → screenshot point clouds into 2D stills → manipulate each by hand → animate the manipulations → stitch them into a short film → compose the score. Every step is a place the work can mutate, and the final piece is the residue of every decision made along the way.
Where do you find inspiration?Things we can't see, cognitive dissonance, hidden parallels, the invisible architecture of every day's life; that's where the magic is. I'm drawn to the gap betwixt how systems work and how they could work, to disparate things that turn out to rhyme, to mystery, trauma, nature, and consciousness. Subjective & objective, fixed & transient; the shared human condition underneath all of it. When two unrelated things suddenly connect, I follow that connection until a constellation reveals itself.
What would you do with $25,000?I'd bring the museum feel to the sidewalk & street-side. Building toward a new standard for how art demands it be seen, where it's encountered, how it's sold, and why it's respected.
