It is such a passion to record our Hawaiian Heritage, light up lives with gifts of paintings, and celebrate the complex human spirit.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Paintings that capture the energy and feelings of living beings, and their stories. Also do art therapy with our Cancer patients..soul collage, vision boards to inspire courage, heal suffering, and create personal transformation.
Where do you find inspiration?Being able to share my art brings joy and balance in my life as a doctor taking care of cancer patients. I also paint to sell my work to raise money for our non-profit Maui Cancer Resources to be able to provide needed services for our island. I teach art at our workshops to help the patients process their grueling journey and inspire their spirits to live fully, not just survive. Hawaii has magic..being able to show this in art to share, opens eyes to the gift of living here. Mahalo, Dr. B
What would you do with $25,000?I would set up a formal art therapy program for our cancer patients AND caregivers(such need as they are struggling too) in Maui County. This would allow MCR to support local artists to share their work. Would love to see a mural done with local artists and cancer patients to inspire hope in the face of adversity for all to see.
