As a military spouse, my creativity turns uncertainty into purpose. Through advocacy & art I nurture connection & give back wherever I land.

Creating handwoven art brings me the most joy, specifically when combining weaving with my own handmade paper for mixed media works. There is something deeply meditative about weaving. As society pushes the hustle, weaving demands I slow down. It offers a rewarding challenge that shifts between technical complexity and rhythmic simplicity. The softness of these materials requires patience but allows me to playfully and intentionally use texture as the primary expression.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from lived experiences. I am moved by the endurance of those who have navigated societal challenges, and I aim to preserve those stories through my work. My background in advocacy also plays a significant role. I view my creativity as a way to process social commentary and maintain a commitment to truth. Ultimately, I am inspired by the way art can build community and turn shared hardships into a form of connection.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use $5,000 to launch a fund for military spouse creatives, helping them pursue their own artistic goals despite frequent relocations during a service member's career. I would donate $5,000 to Secure Families Initiative, where I found my voice as an advocate. I would save $10,000 to sustain my art practice as we transition to post-military life. Finally, I would use $5,000 to expand my studio & manage upcoming expenses while relaunching my art practice across any remaining military moves.
