I love to create art because it gives me room — room to share, room to grow.

In terms of medium, I traditionally enjoy using graphite, acrylic and charcoal. Soft graphite in particular has always been like coming home. There is an ability to convey a depth that feels satisfying and truthful. I love to focus on nude and skeletal subjects, as well as pastoral visions. I enjoy the whole process of exploration.
Where do you find inspiration?I am inspired by so much everyday! But one of my biggest influences is my experience with mental illness. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I was 26, which has been both the bane and the highlight of my existence. I feel everything passionately, and in waves; I like to move with them artistically. Creating has given me visual language to express my own insides where I don’t have the words.
What would you do with $25,000?I would finally be debt free and be able to invest more of myself into creating artwork without so much sacrifice. I would like to become a full time artist in the future, and devote myself to the work. I want to also make donations to local youth artist/theatre organizations.
