Art has never been a secondary pursuit for me; it is the primary lens through which I interact with the world

I specialize in mixed-media dark surrealism, a style I’ve titled "Vibrant Nightmares." I love the tactile process of combining traditional paints with unconventional, organic materials like snake skin, gold leaf, and dried rose petals. For me, art is about the contrast between the beautiful and the unsettling, creating layered pieces that invite viewers to look closer at the textures and the stories hidden within them.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration is deeply personal, rooted in the journey of healing and "becoming." I find beauty in the transformative cycles of nature—represented by the shedding of snake skin—and the resilience of the human spirit. My work is also driven by my family, particularly my daughter, Dixielyn, who inspires me to pursue my education and my passion. I aim to capture the "vibrant" side of life's "nightmares," turning difficult memories into something visual, powerful, and permanent.
What would you do with $25,000?Winning this would be life-changing for my family and my artistic practice. I would first invest in professional-grade studio equipment and materials to expand my "Vibrant Nightmares" series and increase production for my handmade merchandise, like my custom tumblers and bookmarks. Beyond the studio, this would provide essential financial stability for my family and support my goal of completing my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, ultimately helping me build a sustainable foundation.
