I create with the intention to teach about my Inupiat culture, strengthen cultural identity/recognition & pass down traditional knowledge.

I love to work with Native materials such as walrus ivory, bowhead whale baleen, seal skin and more to create unique earrings, jewelry pieces, and regalia. I recently learned how to make parkas with my dad, so this has been helpful toward my passion project to learn how to make a fancy parka.
Where do you find inspiration? My culture, my community, and the drive to keeping our traditions alive by creating contemporary & never been seen before pieces that help others embrace the culture and help create a sense of identity & belonging.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use that money toward teaching and preserving our cultural ways. This could fund workshops and classes, creating bigger projects, art show exhibitions and more opportunities for our Native Artists & anyone willing to learn.
