What is your favorite type of art to create?

As an artist, I'm always creating and learning new skills. However, portraits are my passion. I am self taught and I primarily draw with graphite pencils. However, sometimes I draw using a medium called dry brushing. Dry brushing a technique that uses a very soft bristle brush and a very small about of oil paint on heavyweight paper. Dry brushing can be used with graphite or charcoal to add more detail.

Where do you find inspiration?

Primarily I am inspired by B&W portrait photographers. I find so much inspiration in the expression these photographs capture. My skills are challenged by attempting to recreate the photos that mesmerize me. I also get to draw my friends and family. I am always floored when someone’s asks ME to draw a portrait for them.

What would you do with $25,000?

Truthfully? I would pay off our debt. I got to marry a gem of a man and we have loved through so many seasons. However, our marriage has been marked with loss, unexpected events and financial stress. My husband has worked himself to the bone building our little corner of the world and it would be such an honor if my passion could help lift some of the financial burden.
