Painting is where I truly find peace. I suffered a serious concussion just over a year ago which exposed a talent I never knew brewed in me.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Acrylic fluid art on canvas - Swipes, dutch pours, wrecked pours...you name it. What's special about my work is it's not just what the paintings show you in the daylight, but what they reveal under florescent lighting. My new series is called "Through Candy's eyes," which focuses on a series of eye-swipes. Metallics help to give these paintings dimension and life.
Where do you find inspiration?I used to be a machine fabricator, building hydraulic power units from the ground up. Due to a concussion, I can no longer do that. Not long after my concussion I found a few canvases in my home and decided to go get some paint. Through some trial and error, I found my new passion and I finally feel like I have purpose. I'm going to prove to the world that I am not a failure, and that unfortunate and traumatic event exposed a new, fulfilling and colorful purpose for me. I'm grateful.
What would you do with $25,000?I have no room for all of my works, and the space them. I would build my new Studio. A place where people can not only come in and get lost in my works, experience what reveals in a setting where the blacklights can truly do their magic. I also want an exposed working space, so that people can watch as each piece is born. The creation is not something to be hidden, but to be shared and understood. 25K is all I need to launch something truly amazing. Art has given me so much fuel, and purpose!
