Body painting is my favorite form because I get to turn human beings into breathing ART. It reminds us of our impermanent nature, that this life in a body is a fleeting gift & that every human holds a unique expression worth celebrating through art. Body paint is ancient & unifying to the human species. It is something all ages, ethnicities, genders can connect to because we are all on Earth experiencing life in a human body. It is experiential & can never be replicated in the same way twice
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in nature & in the act of connecting with other humans. Inspiration is all around us when we actually pay attention. Nothing about this life is casual~ the fact that we are a culmination of trillions of cells that mirror the greater patterns in nature… on a giant rock, hurling through space, held in the orbit of a massive ball of solar fire. The fact that we are alive and able to experience this multifaceted life is a miracle. Body paint brings me closer to this remembrance.
What would you do with $25,000?This money would help me bring a greater vision to life called ‘The Living Altar Series’. It focuses on creating a collection of stunning body paint portraits/scenes that merge each subject into prayerful altars. Each piece expresses our relationship to the sacred elements of Nature and how interconnected we are with our environment. This will help finance equipment, props, paying the models, & travel expenses when needed.
