My favorite type of art to create is mixed-media work using acrylic paint, oil pastels, and textured materials. I’m drawn to creating pieces that reflect real-life experiences, Native culture, and community stories. My work often focuses on giving a voice to underrepresented perspectives, especially within Native communities.
Where do you find inspiration?My inspiration comes from my community, Native identity, and real-life experiences. I’m influenced by storytelling, cultural resilience, and the importance of representation in art. Artists like Frida Kahlo and Salvador Dalí have also inspired me to use symbolism and emotion to create work that connects deeply with people.
What would you do with $25,000?If awarded $25,000, I would give back to the community that shaped me and invest in my growth as a full-time artist. I would donate $3,000 to the Mid-America All-Indian Museum to support Native youth programs, and $3,000 to Harvester Arts for their early support. The remaining funds would help me focus on public art and create work that reflects and uplifts my community.
