I want to create and paint to communicate. To help navigate and understand the world we are all living in. To invite conversation.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Every new painting is a fresh journey that may or may not lead me to the triumphs of yesterday and the mistakes of tomorrow. I often doubt my process. If I can hang a piece on the wall and live with it for a while, I feel comfortable. This allows me to walk by the piece and unconsciously critique it. Eventually, I understand the areas that need improvement. Then I’m able to adjust my expectations and continue.
Where do you find inspiration?I work on several paintings simultaneously. By rotating canvases and creating a sense of chaos within the process, I continue to search for my unique voice, style and approach. Learning to appreciate and accept the viewers Interpretation of my imagination is valuable in and insightful.
What would you do with $25,000?That’s an easy one. I would divide amongst my three nieces. Ages nine, four, four months, and coming soon a nephew in June. Hopefully the amount growing as they grow. The rest, I will donate to the local Community Center. An amazing place with amazing teachers and mentors who share their skills and expertise with all ages, the young and the not so young.
