It's free therapy (minus cost of supplies) but it helps me work through insecurities I've had and trauma from the past
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love making weird little characters from other worlds, and I am making them into a trading card series along the lines of Garbage Pail Kids. I've been illustrating them freehand on 2.5x3.5 in blanks with India Ink pens and copic markers. That project got me into drawing larger, more detailed portraits of mutant hybrid characters in fancy Victorian style frames.
Where do you find inspiration?I find a lot of inspiration from other artists I see, and from nature, like bugs, birds, fish and other creatures that exist on our beautiful planet. Sometimes I get inspiration from looking at the clouds and seeing funny shapes that give me ideas for drawings.
What would you do with $25,000?I would promptly move out of my parents house so I can live on my own again, and use the money to print and launch my trading card series and make shirts, buttons and stickers. I also have been wanting to try and start a local art/drawing class so I can help inspire and teach other aspiring artists to unleash their imaginations and creative potential so that more colorful and weird art can be brought into our weary world. Oh and also get a new car so my old one can finally retire in peace.
