My favorite type of art to create is abstract painting that explores happiness, joy, and overall healthy well-being, using soft, radiant pastel colors to express the emotional richness of human experience; inspired by my studies at the Art League in Old Town Alexandria and guided by the teachings of artist John Blee, my work reflects a deep artistic philosophy rooted in Self-Determination Theory, as I aim to visually interpret the essential human needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration within my heart, where everything flows naturally from my soul and transforms into something meaningful on canvas; my creative process is deeply personal and intuitive, guided by a desire to express joy, emotional connection, and well-being, as each painting becomes a reflection of my inner harmony and the beauty of human experience.
What would you do with $25,000?If I were honored to receive this award, I would use the money thoughtfully to support both my son and my health. As a single mother working two jobs, I continue to manage ongoing medical expenses following my experience with cancer, including necessary follow-up care. At the same time, I am preparing to support my son as he begins his college journey in 2027. This award would help ease these financial pressures.
