What is your favorite type of art to create?

I’m most drawn to painting that sits between figuration and abstraction, where the body is present but not fully fixed. I often begin with a figure, sometimes from a quick drawing, but I don’t aim to complete or describe it. Instead, I let the form shift, break, or dissolve as I work. What interests me is what happens when a figure can no longer remain whole—when it’s interrupted by space, or when parts separate and still feel connected. Lately, I’ve been working with a limited palette, often us

Where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration comes more from internal experience than from external imagery. I’m interested in sensations that are difficult to describe—especially the feeling of space as something active rather than empty. One of my earliest memories is looking at the corner of a room and feeling a kind of pressure there, as if space itself had weight. That experience has stayed with me, and I return to it often in my work. I also draw from the human body, but not in a traditional observational sense.

What would you do with $25,000?

would use the funds to create the space and time needed to fully develop this body of work. Studio space has been a limitation for me, so a portion would go toward securing a dedicated area where I can work consistently on larger pieces. I would also invest in materials—canvas, paint, and drawing supplies—so I can continue exploring this direction without restriction. Part of the funding would support focused time to work, allowing me to deepen the series I’ve begun around figure and space.
