What ever it is I am doing now - drawing and painting after years of sculpture. It is so much easier and portable and allows me to to catch the moment -the now . The spontaneous nature of recording and spitting back the out the content through the media and the style that best communicates the message, the feeling ,the urgency or peacefulness of the moment or situations.
Where do you find inspiration?Ideas come quickly and constantly for me. , it may be by just letting the hand go letting every mistake be a layer in the process,, letting the content develope from the scenes, objects, people , and circumstances around me . It may come from the beauty of the natural world or a shadow on the wall or as a reaction to an injustice illuminating the human condition. It could come from a phrase ,apiece of music or from a dream . Inspiration comes from my eye, knowledge, observation and thoughts
What would you do with $25,000?My impulse is to say “buy time.”Time is crushing me in the final stage of my life.- The time to experience new places , cultures , and histories . The freedom to make art inspired by new worlds., to hold up somewhere alone and to practice what I have spent my life teaching and learning-. Make art unfettered for a period of time. Then, roll up my sleeves and give my art and career the push needed. ( and hire help to catalogue and digitize 50 years of art! )
