I need to express the parts of my mind and soul that can’t be expressed merely with words. I create because I must; it’s what is in me.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I create what I feel. Some call it abstract Impressionism. Some call it simply abstract. Sometimes I paint, sometimes I sculpt, sometimes I decoupage, sometimes create art from found objects…sometimes I intermingle it all. So I suppose you could say my favorite art to create is simply what my soul says to create and it could be anything. I guess mixed media art is as good of a way of explaining the type of art that is my favorite to create.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere. Sometimes I paint my emotions on a canvas and stare at it until I see what I see inside the emotion. Sometimes I paint my dreams. Sometimes I paint my joy. My pain. The way I envision the world around me. Inspiration is everywhere. It’s life.
What would you do with $25,000?Honestly, I would use it to make more art and I would use it to survive the world around me so I could make more art. I’m 47 years old. I’m a widow who watched my man die of cancer at age 37. I’ve been a victim of violence. I’ve been scammed. I’ve been bankrupt. And I’ve picked myself up and I’ve started my life over more times than I care to admit. If I had $25,000 I would use it to live so I could create more art in this world. Art is the light needed for ones soul. And we all need it.
