I create art to preserve my core memories as a child growing up with a sense of connection to the natural world, and how it opened my eyes.

Pen and ink particularly Gel pens on watercolor paper. I also like to use oil and canvas but I have a fascination for metallic paint in much the same way as I am fascinated by glitter and metallic pens. The additional impact of the light as it touches my work creates the atmosphere of magic I feel in my memories.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my memories of my childhood in Romblon, and Marikina Philippines blending it with my memory of my daughter’s childhood in New York. The work of Miyazaki is also a major influence. The environment surrounding a memory of a town although not exactly an accurate historical depiction of it, but rather a blending of my memories of my childhood and my daughter’s; along with the constant presence of cats; frames the memories in a way that the atmosphere is part of the joy .
What would you do with $25,000?When I receive the $25,000. I plan to use it to seed a multi-platform art exhibit including animations with short stories of the what I experienced in my childhood as presences participating in childhood play. Nature spirits that observe me and my sisters and me and my daughter will do brief appearances in this world.
