That’s an easy answer, bright acrylic paints along with any type of mediums I can get my hands on. I love colorful works of art, my creations come from my ancestors, the world around me is broad and I’m here to say “we are still here” with my paintings. Painting is my first choice and I’m self taught, so paintings with a story and are meaningful to my culture and teaches the outside world about us is what’s it about.
Where do you find inspiration?I’m inspired by my past, present and future. I find my inspiration within myself, I’m a Gold Star Widow, that means my husband was KIA/Afghanistan, my painting journey evolved after he died. I had to paint to heal myself, I had to paint to let all my emotions go. So I find inspiration in how far I’ve gotten since his death in 2009. My late husband inspires me, without traveling the world I would not have known that the world was so colorful.
What would you do with $25,000?It would further my art career by paying for entry fees, art supplies, art classes, and having a studio for myself. $25,000 is a lot of help for a struggling artist.
