You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art to create is art that engage the viewer. Whatever emotion that can be triggered in the audience is important. May it be love, awe, surprise, curiosity, complicity ,hate, voiced disregard or criticism. It is a reaction. I have said : "My works speaks for itself "and "My work is my statement.. my statement is my work" but meanwhile have a look...
Where do you find inspiration? The creation of my sculptural ceramics has been free of any one strong principal influence. Son of Spanish immigrant father and Basque mother in Paris, francophone immigrant to a rural Saskatchewan community, I have been always aware of discrimination, intolerance, and bigotry. Inequality, injustice, incarceration, class differences and colonialism are addressed in some of my works. Other works are more of a personal nature, sometimes humoristic.
What would you do with $25,000?First, I would fix my studio roof , fix my kilns, fix eletrical wiring so I can continue working in a safer environment. Buy another used reliable vehicle. And if there is money left, subsidy a trip to Madrid (Spain) to visit The Prado museum to view the works of Goya and el Bosco (Hieronymus Bosch).
