I love to make art because it helps me make sense of life, feelings and experiences while connecting to something deeper and less tangible.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite work to create is abstract painting guided by feeling and intuition. I don’t begin with a fixed plan. I might start with a color, then let the process unfold as I move through life experiences and reflect on them. Painting becomes a way of exploring both my inner life and a deeper, more metaphysical sense of connection. The process is both an act of exploration and a vocation.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in everyday life, in relationships, joy and pain, kindness from strangers, and the full experience of being human. I feel things deeply, so I have a constant well of emotion to explore through my work. Life itself is endlessly inspiring. I am drawn to the metaphysical, the spiritual, and the sense of the unseen. I find refuge in nature, especially its movement and the ocean, which influence the rhythm, gesture and flow of my paintings.
What would you do with $25,000?With a grant of 25,000, I would reinvest directly into my studio practice, supporting the materials and time needed to develop my work. This would include paints, canvas, stretcher bars, and expanded research to deepen the conceptual foundation of my painting. The funding would allow me to work with greater focus and continuity, supporting sustained exploration and the continued evolution of my practice.
