- Work made from my hands, sourcing materials & building When i forge for my pigments its a 2 -3 week process connecting and learning from earth , bones, rust. This slows me down as the force of nature demands our time and understanding. breaking down stone/soil/clay, Washing and cleansing, Grinding , and sifting. My process is unique & my studio isn't just within 4 walls it goes where i goes.
Where do you find inspiration?My inspiration comes from deep questions & chemistry. I’m no phd - I do enjoy experimenting & the natural world, Gardening is my teacher The Plants! I've always admired my background and how hands on my ancestors where from fishing, weaving, construction, Farming and using the land. From an early age going into nature was nothing but freedom and exploration it remains our eldest teacher from the ants to the clouds, its rough, raw beauty.
What would you do with $25,000?This would grant me the opportunity to finally open an intimate artist residency in Belize where my family is from, open to artist all over the world to learn agricultural, horticultural, farming, while the earth provides-materials for art work, culture & the art of slow living. This space will be built using local materials, using eco friendly recycled materials. This will have Studio/ Living corders, Wood shop, Glass blowing, Kiln, & wild life. My family has a deep history in Belize /Honduras
