It’s an extension of who I am in many ways. I love the full process, planning to complete. I feel saddest when there is nothing more to do.

Receive Text UpdatesMy favorite type of art to create is the type that pulls you away from your reality for a moment and let you be completely totally in the present focused in drawn into the project you’re doing. I love the horses that I carve because there’s so many different aspects of it. You have the initial set up the carving the pudding together the painting, the little bit of engineering that has to go to make sure it will work and the log that goes behind it I can be lost for hours, and that’s OK with me.
Where do you find inspiration?Growing up, my dad was an artist photographer through pots did paintings. We always did a little bit of everything. When I had my first daughter, his granddaughter, he built her a little rocking horse out of a two by sixes and it was just a cute little rocking horse my kids loved it and broke it and we repaired it many times until it couldn’t work anymore. Then when my granddaughter was born, I wanted to do something for her, but I wanted it to be generational, so here I am.
What would you do with $25,000?I would work on upgrading my space and my tools to make what I do more functional. But I’d also like to upgrade it so I can teach other people how to do what I do so I can hold workshops and let people come in and enjoy building something for their family that could be generational, but of their own hands. Those are powerful moments for me.
