I make art to understand myself and how we look at each other. It helps me hold things that don’t have clear answers.

Photography, especially when it crosses into object-making. I work with film, Polaroids, and alternative processes like collodiochloride and cyanotype. I like when the image has a physical presence, when it feels slow and handled. A lot of my work involves the body, intimacy, and collaboration, but I’m just as interested in the surface as I am in the subject.
Where do you find inspiration? From people I’m close to, from my own experiences, and from older photographic materials. I’m drawn to archives, especially ones that feel a little overlooked or complicated. I also think a lot about how images shape desire and perception, so inspiration often comes from noticing how something is being looked at or framed.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use it to produce a new body of work using collodiochloride prints on metal. That includes materials, studio time, and access to a proper darkroom. I’d also fund scanning and research for archival material, and support the printing and installation of the work so it can be shown publicly.
