I love a variety, and there is always new things to try, but the ingredients of my favorite pieces all involve: Mastery of Technique. Excellent Curves and shapes. Alluring to multiple senses, especially touch, I want to hold them, and stare at them, rub your fingers across the details. They provoke a conversation, and questions about craft. I took good advantage of my material, wood is a partner, not a slave.
Where do you find inspiration?Nature, and the wood or material itself are some of the really big ones. It presents you with hidden treasures, and surprise challenges to overcome. Sometimes I get a spontaneous idea, or just a moment of epiphany and I HAVE to go make the thing. Other times, there is a deliberate thought process and preplanning, and thinking of the steps needed to do something, and the process or the challenge itself is what drives me. The other Amazing artists I know, follow, and interact with.
What would you do with $25,000?Lets be honest here: There are so many cool tools and materials I want to play with haha! I want to get some stuff setup to work on some much larger pieces, and hollow forms. I want to really upgrade some of my carving tools and finishing tools. New Exciting pieces of wood. Additionally I want to get a photography station setup, and a decent camera for both photos, and videos of my work and process. I want to establish my business, and my trademark, and pay for some (human)art for that.
