My favorite art to creat is my documentary photography and relief prints that center Black life, memory, and presence. My work mixes observation with intention—capturing real moments while also building symbolic images that speak to identity, fatherhood, and legacy. Whether through the lens or the carving tool, I’m focused on honest, human storytelling.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in everyday Black life. In quiet moments, family dynamics, public spaces, and the rhythm of the streets. I’m influenced by photographers like Gordon Parks and Dawoud Bey, but also by lived experience: fatherhood, memory, and community. Inspiration comes from paying attention to what’s often overlooked and giving it weight.
What would you do with $25,000?I would invest in expanding my documentary and printmaking practice by funding long-term projects, producing exhibitions, and creating archival-quality prints. It also supports my community-based work like The Dad Duty Project, allowing me to document more families, provide free sessions, and build a body of work that reflects and uplifts Black life with care and depth.
