The need to express ourselves lives within us all. I create art because it's my expression of how I see and share my world with others.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I lean towards classical and sometimes surrealism, but it would be difficult to limit myself to just one medium or style. I enjoy everything from painting to sculpting from junk yard materials, as well as graphic art. I find paint often expresses my idea the best. Occasionally, I will experiment with mixed media to add another elements to my work. Regardless of what style or medium, the goal is to express an idea or moment in time that matters to others and that's the best type of art.
Where do you find inspiration?I look to the world around me for inspiration. Both in nature and within the people and objects around me. Nature is full of amazing sites to capture, objects often symbolize ideas, but often the most expressive pieces are a combination of the places, objects and people. Finding the best combination of elements to relay the human condition is the driving force and anything can spark that creativity. So I am most inspired by anything that capture a moment or emotion & sparks a need to create.
What would you do with $25,000?If I were lucky enough to win $25,000 part of the winnings would have to start a community art project and exhibit for children. I was an art teacher for many years. Seeing the faces of a young artist in the zone or showing off their art is one of the most rewarding things I have ever shared as an artist myself.
