Art is walking into the unknown to pursue an original and beautiful idea. Being fully in spirit to channel creation, is where I want to be.

Receive Text UpdatesI like to create art that reveals itself over time. A process painter, collages and public artist, I use everyday materials and elevate them into works of art. That material observations and studying the nature of things can be alchemized into visually dynamic and complex artworks is an exciting challenge in my studio. I like to make large, brightly-colored, fluid artworks by experimenting with materials, and exploring the ideas I find in both my creative practice and observations of the world.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration everywhere! Alleys, desert trails, the ocean and the prairie; I get inspired by the beauty of the world. I like to explore, closely observing and photographing color, texture, light or form. I am inspired by travel abroad, the many regions of our country and its National Parks, and tromping outdoors for activity. I enjoy viewing the art of other artists, visiting museums, gallery openings; I like singing, cooking and reading about fashion, design, science and the environment.
What would you do with $25,000?If awarded, I would create a body of work using plexiglass, vellum, and other transparent materials to manipulate layers of material into both sculptural and 2-D works. I have been fascinated with the use of light and material in artworks and artists that use transparency and shadow in their practice. I like “distilled” works of art based in process; using simple materials, intriguing for their quiet elegance and wonder. Additional funds would be directed to forming a community art space.
